When the explosive population growth, apartments that have sprung up from the mid to late 1900s have become a typical Korean building that can be said to be a form of hometown for the next generations.
This film focuses on the flow of time and space of unfinished village communities, showing the urban sites under construction or soon to be built in1980 and confirmed in 2018 to be rebuilt.
The film, which flows in a monotonous way though the exterior of the building, casts an ulteriror shadow behind urban planning developed by capitalism, in dialogues punctuated like a fairy tale.
In the creatures that were there under the them of apartment reconstruction.
The image of those who feel sad about the memories that they have lived and the image of the old objects that are left behind, and the image of gazing at the nature around the apartment that keeps the place silently overlap each other, emphasizing all the happenings over invisible time.
The question of what a real space of life is a matther of considering that form a perspective on apartments only as property and as the value of investment, what aspects of life a virtuous society would became over time (The critical text, LEE Jisu)
폭발적인 인구증가로 1900년대 중후반부터 우후죽순으로 생긴 아파트는 그 이후 태어난 세대들에게는 고향 집의 형태라고 말할 수 있을 정도로 대표적인 한국의 건축물로 자리 잡았다. 영화는 1980년에 준공되어 2018년 재건축이 확정된 둔촌주공아파트를 포함하여 건설 중이거나 곧 건설될 도시의 부지를 보여주며 미완성된 마을 공동체의 시간과 공간의 흐름에 집중하고 있다. 건물 겉을 무심하게 훑으며 단조롭게 흘러가던 영화는 중간 중간 동화처럼 끼워진 대화에서 자본주의에 의해 발전된 도시계획의 이면의 그림자를 던진다.
그렇게 흘러가던 영화는 중반 본격적으로 아파트 재건축이란 주제 아래 그곳에 있던 모든 생물체가 떠나고 남긴 흔적에 대해 관찰하기 시작한다.
살아온 추억에 아쉬워하는 사람들과 남겨진 낡은 물건들 속을 비추는 이미지와 말없이 자리를 지키고 있는 아파트 주변 자연을 응시하는 이미지가 겹치며 눈에 보이지 않는 시간이 모든 것을 스치며 일아난 현상을 강조한다. 진정한 삶의 공간이란 무엇인가에 관한 물음은 아파트를 단지 재산으로만 여기고 투자의 가치로만 보는 것이 미덕인 사회가 시간이 지나면 어떤 삶의 양상으로 변할지 고찰해봐야 할 문제이다. (평론가 이지수)
